Rev. Jim Houston-Hencken, Senior Pastor, and his
family came to us from Midland, Texas, in 2003 where Jim served 10 years as
one of the Associate Pastors at their First Presbyterian Church. Before
Midland, from 1986 through 1993, Jim was Director of Christian
Education/Minister to Children and their Families, at Fremont Presbyterian
Church, Sacramento, California.
Jim earned his BS from California State University,
Sacramento in 1983 and worked his way through college by serving two
different churches as a youth director – FPC Santa Barbara and Santa Ynez
Valley Pres. Church. He holds a Master of Divinity degree from Fuller
Theological Seminary and is working on his Doctor of Ministry degree –
Preaching and Worship, at Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary.
Jim’s lovely wife, Kathy, is a most sensitive and
caring lady, mother of two and a Marriage and Family Counselor by
profession. She is a wonderful complement to his ministry. Together, they
make a dynamic duo. Rounding out their family are Peter and Paige.
Dana Boes,
Associate Pastor
Pastor Dana grew up in Midland, Texas.
Throughout her life she have been involved, primarily, in two
things: music and church. She grew up in the Presbyterian Church (USA) and
considers it her home.
She attended Texas Tech University, in Lubbock, Texas where
she majored in Music Education. When she discovered she did not want to
teach music or direct choirs she transferred and attended Sam Houston State
University in Huntsville, Texas, where she earned a degree in Music Therapy,
which combined her love of music with her desire to help people lead more
productive and full lives.
After graduation she worked in the Texas
State Hospital system with the mentally ill for 10 years at three different
facilities. Upon accepting the call to ministry, she
attended Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary and graduated with a
Masters of Divinity.
