Would you like to be a part
The last Saturday of each month we meet together to spread God's love and to share in our abundance with those
who have less. We pack about 200 lunches consisting of bottled water,
sandwiches, carrots, chips, apple sauce, cookies, Chapstick, and
illustrated Bible verses. We then load them into one of the church vans and other
vehicles and distribute them to hungry people in the 'Zone Area.'
They are so appreciative. Not only have many of the Social Security and
welfare checks been depleted by then, but also many of the other programs,
which give similar services, have run out by the end of the month.
The bags and all that go into them are
supplied by those of you who gave so generously to the Brown Bag Program
during the last few months. The response has been overwhelming. As we plan to continue this
as an ongoing project, we hope you will continue to keep it in your
prayers, as well as giving as you are able. You may purchase actual
goods, or you may earmark a check for 'Brown Bags', and add it to the
regular Deacon's Fund Offering.
In addition, we would love to have your presence on the last Saturday of each month. We put the bags together in the Social Hall from 8 a.m. to about 10 a.m. Then we deliver from around 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. We have jobs suitable for all ages and skill levels, but we only need 10 to 15 people each month. So that we can spread this wonderful experience around, there will be a sign-up sheet in the Narthex. Let us know if you want to be involved in preparation, delivery, or both, and you will be contacted. We also would like those who are able to bake two or three dozen cookies as the homemade cookies add a nice finishing touch. Thank you for your support and prayers, The Deacons of First Presbyterian Church
