Deacons |
The Board of Deacons works behind the scenes to serve members of the congregation, the church, and the community. The Board of Deacons areas of service include: visitation, memorial service committee, providing CD recordings of services, flower delivery, transportation, worship assistance, and the Brown Bag ministry. They also support the community through Amazing Grace Ministry, Shade Tree, Lutheran Social Services and Family Promise. |
Elders and Deacons |
The elders of First Presbyterian Church are people elected from the congregation by the people to serve along with the ministers in governing the church. Those called to this position are to faithfully and prayerfully represent the will of God in all decisions regarding the governance of the church. The elders of the church meet in a governing body called the Session which has the responsibility of exercising leadership, governing the church and providing discipline. In addition elders are called to strengthen and nurture the life of the congregation. Our church session consist of 18 elders elected to three year terms of service. |
